QUOTABLE
QUOTES:
DAYNE PIERANTONI, GM RACING
SILVERADO PROGRAM MANAGER FOR NCTS: "Our Silverado teams and
drivers are looking forward to Martinsville. We had a successful
test two weeks ago and the Chevy teams left with good data for
the setups they will start with Friday.
"Martinsville has been a good
track for Chevrolet and everyone enjoys going there. The crew
chief and over-the-wall crews are crucial components because
every second on pit road is critical. If you lose track
position, it is virtually impossible to make it up because the
NCTS race is short, fast and furious.
"To help their crews, drivers
have to keep the fenders straight on their Silverados and save
their equipment to be in position to race for the win. There
have been some exciting finishes over the years and I think we
will have a few Silverados in the front battling for the trip to
victory lane."
FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT:
JACK SPRAGUE, NO. 2 RVS.COM SILVERADO: Martinsville is just one
of those old school places. It is good old hard-nosed
short-track racing. Martinsville is a place where you can beat,
bang, route and gouge and it is acceptable. The competition is
also so close that it makes it fun.
RON HORNADAY, JR., NO 33 VFW SILVERADO: "Martinsville always has
some of the best racing. It is a flat, short track that has a
little bit of banking in the turns but the straight-aways are
just flat. You definitely have to have good brakes at
Martinsville. I know it sounds weird, but the better brakes you
have there, the better you can get around the track. And you
have time your braking just right when you go into the turns.
Overall, I have had some success at Martinsville, but I have
never won there so I am looking to change that.
