Team Race Preview
NASCAR Truck Series Race 9 of 25 — Texas Motor Speedway

Hornaday Looking to Add a Stetson to Trophy Room:
Ron Hornaday will be making his 11th career NASCAR Truck Series start at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) this Friday night in the Sam’s Town 400K. In his previous 10 starts, Hornaday has recorded two top-five and six top-10 finishes and has led 355 laps. He is looking to score his first win at TMS and add a black Stetson cowboy hat to his trophy room collection.

Chassis 024 Returns To Track:
Crew chief Rick Ren received a bit of good news two weeks ago while in Mansfield, Ohio. Chassis 024 was sitting on the main shop floor at KHI and was ready to be set up for Texas. This is the same truck that Hornaday drove to Victory Lane at Kansas Speedway on April 26 and was damaged in the closing laps of the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 16.

From The Driver’s Seat – Quotes From Ron Hornaday:
On racing at Texas:
“Texas is a fast track. It’s like Atlanta and Lowe’s where you can carry a lot of speed out of the turns. I’ve had some good runs there and have been in position to win a few times. I know (crew chief) Rick Ren will have our truck dialed in and we’ll be fast.”

Atop The Pit Box – Quotes From Rick Ren:
On racing at Texas:
“Texas is a cool race track because a lot fans come out to watch the trucks race. I can’t believe that we won’t go to Texas and have pretty good shot at winning after how well we ran at Lowe’s. We have truck 024 back now and I’m anxious to get it back on the track.”

Previous race recap:
Ron Hornaday finished third last week in the AAA Insurance 200 at Dover (Del.) International Speedway. After starting fifth, Hornaday took over the lead on lap 97 and led 36 laps. In the closing laps, a rocker arm in the motor broke. Running on seven cylinders, Hornaday was still able outrun and hold off a charging Travis Kvapil to finish third and gain two spots to third in the NASCAR Truck Series point standings.
