Shane Rabon
Tire Changer and Mechanic
Shane Rabon, from Salisbury, N.C.,
came to Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) in June 2007 filling the role of mechanic and
front tire changer for the No. 77 Busch Series team.
Prior to joining KHI, Rabon worked at Dale
Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI) and JR Motorsports both located in Mooresville, N.C.
While at DEI during the 2005 season, Rabon served as pit support for the No. 1
Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet in the Busch Series as it claimed the series
championship with driver Martin Truex Jr. Following his stint at DEI, Rabon
moved over to JR Motorsports as a mechanic and front tire changer on the No.
88 Hooters Pro Cup Series Chevrolet. After a season and a half with JR
Motorsports, Rabon made his move to KHI. Entering his fourth year in the sport
and second with KHI in 2008, Rabon credits his competitive personality as the
reason he entered the racing industry.
The 2008
season turned out to be one of the most successful seasons at Kevin Harvick
Inc. KHI and the No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet team, piloted by Ron Hornaday,
won the 2007 Truck Series Championship and Rabon was able to be a part of the
winning celebration. Rabon was at Miami-Homestead (Fla.) Speedway when the
team claimed the title and said, “To be on hand in Miami and be at the track
to celebrate with the team was pretty awesome. I was able to celebrate with
the team and take photos with the team. It was definitely an awesome feeling.”
When asked
about his goals for 2008, Rabon said, “My goal (at KHI) is to help build a
race winner for better success. I’d like to win races and even win another
championship.” Rabon joins again the No. 33 Camping World Truck Series team
for 2008 as they look to defend their series title.
Aside from
racing, Rabon’s hobbies include all sports. When asked about his favorite
sport, he simply answered, “I like any type of sport: football, softball,
golf, etc. I like them all.”
Rabon
currently resides in Salisbury. N.C. with his wife Aimee and son Triston.
