A Peek Inside:
The Anatomy Of A Dashboard Panel

The photo above is of a complete KHI Truck Series Dash Panel. From left to right, you are looking at an ignition switch panel, Tachometer (RPM Gauge), water and oil temperature gauges as well as volt meter for the truck battery.  Each item will be detailed for you below:

Tachometer (a.k.a. RPM Gauge):

Without a speedometer in the truck, the drivers use the tachometer (RPM gauge) - which shows the revolutions per minute of the engine - to gauge pit road speed. It is also used to measure revs at top speed.

(L-R): Water Pressure Gauge, Oil Temperature Gauge, Water Temperature Gauge, Battery Volt Meter

Water Pressure Gauge: A preferred water pressure reading is between 25 and 32 pounds per square inch (PSI).
Oil Temperature Gauge: A reading of 260 degrees usually leads to engine malfunction and loss of oil pressure. Never a good thing in any truck or car!
Water Temperature Gauge: The water temperature should not exceed 260 degrees. If it does the motor most likely will “expire”.
Battery Volt Meter: Each KHI car and truck runs a spare battery in case of a failure on the primary.

Ignition Switch Panel

TOP ROW:
At far left is the "Start" switch, which is connected to the ignition box that fires the engine.  The second switch from left controls the primary ignition box.  The switch directly to its right controls the Tachometer (also known at the RPM Gauge). At far right is the back-up ignition box, used only if the primary ignition system fails.
BOTTOM ROW:
The switches second and third from left control front and rear brake fans. When the front brake fans are on it helps the car/truck turn better and cools the brakes; they are used primarily for down force purposes. The rear brake fans help cool the rear end gear.
