2008 Driver
Lineup:
Kevin Harvick, Cale Gale, Ron Hornaday
In three full seasons of Nationwide Series racing, KHI's No. 33 car has yet to finish
outside of the top-10 in owner's point standings, finishing 10th
in 2005, 10th in 2006 and sixth in 2007. It is a feat for
KHI's young Nationwide Series program, made more impressive by the
fact that multiple drivers split seat time in the car. As
the team looks ahead to the 2008 season, two racing veterans and a
sophomore driver hope to collaborate and create the No. 33's best
year to date.
The No. 33 car made its debut in 2005. In its very first
race, driver Tony Stewart piloted the No. 33 to victory lane in
the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway on February
19. It not only was the first Busch Series win for Kevin
Harvick Inc., but was Stewart's first victory in the series as
well. Drivers Tony Raines, Ron Hornaday, Burney Lamar and
Wally Dallenbach split driving duties with Stewart throughout the
season, earning five top-five finishes and 13 top-10's.
Stewart returned to the driver's seat of the No. 33 car in 2006
and kicked off the year by defending his win in the season-opener,
taking the checkers in the Hershey's Kissables 300 at Daytona.
Going two-in-a-row at the speedway was a feat that did not go
unnoticed by NASCAR, as the track was renamed "DeLana
International Speedway" for the 2007 season opener in honor of
KHI's achievements.
The 2006 season saw a total of seven drivers take the No. 33's
wheel. In addition to Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Ron Hornaday,
Ron Fellows, Aaron Fike, Sean Caisse and Cale Gale each
contributed to a season that saw the team earn one win, five
top-five finishes and 13 top-10 finishes.
2007 was another solid year for the 33 team, with Stewart, Harvick
and Fellows returning to the driver's seat. They were joined by rookie Cale Gale
and Tony Raines, who returned for his second season with the team.
The team was strong as ever, earning four top-fives, 12 top-10
finishes and finishing sixth in points - its best points finish to
date.
2008 promises to be another great season for the No. 33 car.
With KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick signing on for 22 of the 35
Nationwide Series races at the wheel of the No. 33, he'll be
supported by teammates Cale Gale (11 races) and Ron Hornaday (two
races.)
“I’m really looking forward to racing for KHI in the Nationwide
Series in 2008,” said Harvick. “This will be the first year that I
will only race for KHI in this series. My goal is to go out and be
consistent, competitive and win races for KHI.”
